1. What can be dropped off at the Recycling Center located at 15th and State Streets in Cedar Falls?

• Newsprint and magazine glossy stock inserts that are enclosed within the newspaper.


• Plastic milk jugs (cleaned and flattened with the caps removed).


• Cardboard (clean and flattened).


• Office paper.


• Plastic grocery bags.


• Clear glass jars that are clean with the lids removed (no window glass or mirrors).


• Tin cans (cleaned).


• Assorted plastics: numbers 1-5,7.


• We do not accept #6 plastic/ styrofoam.


• Used motor oil and used oil filters will be accepted free of charge at the Transfer Station located just south of the Recycling Center.

2. What are the hours of the recycling center?

The Main recycling facility is open Monday through Friday: 7:00 am until 6:00 pm, and from 8:00 am until 3:00 pm on Saturdays. Roll off recycling containers are available at the Thunder Ridge Fareway, Panther Parkway near the UNI Power Plant, Point West Condos on 18th Street, Western Homes Communities and Greenhill Village on Algonquin Drive. The recycling substations are open 24 hours, 7 days a week. These containers will accept newsprint, clear glass, plastic, tin cans and cardboard.
