How do I become a Reserve Officer for the Cedar Falls Police Department?
Applicants must be a minimum of twenty-one years old and must possess a high school diploma or GED. Applicants must also have a valid Iowa Driver’s License with a good driving record. You must also be a resident of the State of Iowa. If you are interested in becoming a Reserve Officer, please contact the Cedar Falls Police Department at (319) 273-8612.

Do I have to buy my own equipment if I become a Reserve Officer?
The City of Cedar Falls provides Reserve Officers with the necessary equipment and uniforms to fulfill the position.

Do Reserve Officers get paid for the work they do?
The position of Reserve Police Officer is a volunteer position. After two years of service Reserve Officers will receive a monetary stipend each year after that.
4.
What duties do the Reserve Officers provide the department?
Reserve Officers ride with career officers to provide support or if they have the proper amount of training are allowed to ride in tandem providing the same services as career officers. Reserves are also called upon to represent the Police Department during several public events. They provide escort services, parade detail, and called upon to serve heavily during the Sturgis Falls Celebration, UNI Homecoming, and UNI Finals week.
