John Runchey & Family

John Runchey was born in West Bend, Iowa, and graduated from UNI in 1965. John and his wife, Mick, have lived in Cedar Falls since 1976 and have four grown children. Mick is a retired kindergarten teacher from the Waterloo school district.

Employment Background

John is the former owner of Northern Iowa Construction Products, which specialized in providing construction materials used in heavy-highway as well as agricultural construction. He is now retired.

Commitment to Community

Prior to being elected to the city council, John served on the Cedar Falls Cable Television Commission. He is a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, and is involved with the Knights of Columbus, the Waterloo Elks Club, the Cedar Falls Rotary Club and the UNI Scholarship Club.

John feels his primary responsibility, as a city council member, is to listen and to learn, and to do what he feels is best for the City of Cedar Falls. He encourages citizens to contact him with their concerns.
